The New Inbox Option
The new Inbox option uses a smart labeling system to automatically categorize your messages into four different types, along with a default ‘Primary’ section. These tabs include ‘Social’, ‘Promotions’, ‘Updates’ and ‘Forums’. To try it out, click on the settings gear at the top of your current inbox, click on ‘Configure inbox’ (if you don’t see it, don’t worry, it may not have rolled out to your domain yet). You will have the option to revert back. Check out the video.
Gmail Tip: Star and label before you send
Organize your messages as you send them by adding a star or a label, making it easy to keep track of your sent messages. When composing a new message, you can assign labels or star it by clicking the small menu arrow in the lower right of a new email and then Label. Once you do this, your sent mail will be shown in your labels or starred items. It's a very useful feature, allowing you to keep track of sent messages, in the same way as received ones. Recipients won't see the stars or labels you have added.
Chrome Tip: Reopen recently closed tabs
Have you ever wished you hadn't just closed that Google Chrome browser tab. Get it back by right-clicking in the tab bar and selecting Reopen closed tab from the menu or by clicking Ctrl+Shift+T. You can also find a list of recently closed tabs on the "new tab" screen in Google Chrome. Click on Recently closed to the right of the bottom bar to open a list of your most recent tabs.
New Feature: Copy and Paste
Using Chrome, you can now paste tables from spreadsheets directly into an email with the formatting intact. You can also paste drawings into presentations and copy slides from one presentation to another. Next time you need to send a portion of a spreadsheet to someone, try copying and pasting it into your email. Shortcuts: Copy (Ctrl+c), Paste (Ctrl+v), Undo (Ctrl+z.)
Attention Admins: Google has launched the Google Admin app for Android devices. The Admin app makes it easy for admins to use their Android phone or tablet to accomplish the most common tasks—such as quickly adding or suspending users, resetting passwords, managing group memberships, and directly calling or emailing specific users.
